In short

We collect as little as possible. No ad networks, no tracking across sites, no profiles, no social media plugins. Fonts are served from our own server.

Visiting the site

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Each request briefly logs the IP address, time, requested address and details about browser and operating system. We do not analyse this data or combine it with other data.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (secure, stable operation).

Contact by email

If you write to us, we use your email address and your message to reply. Cloudflare Email Routing forwards mail sent to hello@mitmensch.net to our mailbox at Google (Gmail), where it is stored. We delete it once your request has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
Legal bases: Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR.

Booking a conversation

“Book a conversation” takes you to Calendly, where you pick a time with Kevin. What you enter there (name, email, your answers to the questions, and any guests you add) is processed by Calendly on our behalf so the appointment can happen and we can prepare. If you have already ticked or entered something on the partner page, it is passed along in the link and pre-filled at Calendly; the link goes through mitmensch.net, where we store none of it. Nothing is booked until you confirm the appointment. We delete the details once the conversation and any collaboration that follows are over, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
Legal bases: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps prior to a contract) and (f) GDPR (preparing a conversation).

Microphone, camera and portrait when trying things out

If you test your microphone at “Alone at the fire”, your browser asks for permission first. The sound is only measured in your browser to show the level. It is neither stored nor transmitted, and the microphone is released again when you close the test.

The same applies to the trial round: your microphone is only measured so that your portrait lights up when you speak. The others in the trial round are simulated; nothing is transmitted. For your portrait you can switch on the camera; your browser turns this into a small still image, and the video itself is neither stored nor sent. Name and portrait stay on your device (see Storage in the browser).

Cookies and storage in the browser

These entries are necessary for functions you explicitly use (§ 25(2) no. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act, TDDDG). We do not set advertising or analytics cookies. You can delete these entries in your browser at any time.

Service providers (processors)

We have contracts under Art. 28 GDPR with all service providers.

Where data is processed in the USA (Cloudflare, Google or Calendly), this is safeguarded by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

The site links to other mitmensch offers and to external sites. As long as you do not click a link, no data is transmitted to these sites. Their own privacy notices apply there.

Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). You can withdraw consent for the future at any time (Art. 7(3)). Where we process data on the basis of legitimate interests, you can object on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21).

Simply write to hello@mitmensch.net.

You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information or the authority where you live.
